Volunteering has been, and continues to be very important to Friends of the Lake District.

Friends of the Lake District is committed to supporting the efforts of volunteers to the full and recognises them as a valuable resource. It will manage its network of volunteers to high standards and will provide guidance and support for individuals and groups.

What began as an entirely voluntary organisation now has a substantial core of career professionals carrying out the bulk of its day-to-day work. The scope for supplementing this work through volunteer effort is enormous and to realise this potential, paid staff and volunteers work together in partnership.
