Other Volunteering Opportunities |
If working on conservation tasks is not for you, our other volunteer opportunities range from administration work in the comfort of the office to staffing our stand at various country shows:
Help in the office Each year our dedicated volunteers come and help us pack cards and calendars and other merchandise to sell to help us fundraise, and others regularly help pack our magazine into envelopes to send to our members. Helping pack the magazine is a fun task with a team of volunteers - and always means cake!
Attending Shows and Events Each year we look for volunteers who are keen to spread the word about Friends of the Lake District and help staff our stand at the various country shows and events we attend. The role involves talking to the general public about our work handing out information to those interested and encouraging them to become a member. |
Farming Landscapes This project aims to raise awareness of the link between farming, food and the landscape, increase understanding of farming's importance to wildlife conservation and promote local produce. In 2012 over 50 farm events will be held across Cumbria. Volunteers support the project in various ways - from distributing publicity material to attending an event to help the farmer. Training is provided. |

Leaflet Distributors We are keen to get our membership leaflet out into the local community to help recruit more members. If you could spare a few hours to distribute leaflets to a few hotels, guest houses, cafes, visitor attractions, libraries or shops etc in your area please let us know. Leaflet distribution even on a small scale helps us to tell visitors and locals alike about the work we do and the range of projects we support. |
If you would like to find out more about these activities or take part, please contact Steve Houltram in the office, call 01539 720788 or email
