Lake District National Park Local Development Framework Core Strategy
Tuesday, 04 May 2010 12:29

The Lake District National Park Authority has been developing their Local Development Framework core strategy over the past four years. The core strategy forms a key part of the replacement of the National Park Local Plan, and will be used to guide development in the park over the next decade.

We have worked closely with the National Park Authority throughout the development of their Strategy - which is now at the final Examination stage - on both a formal (as both a key consultee and through our involvement in the Lake District Partnership) and informal basis. This proactive approach has resulted in a document which addresses the great majority of our concerns, and which should form the basis of a robust replacement for the 1998 Local Plan. A number of issues remain outstanding however, and we intend to appear at the hearing in regard to these issues. The hearing is due to begin on 5th May. Further details are available on the National Park Authority's website:
