Friends of the Lake District

Get connected in 2008!

Every year Friends of the Lake District tries to tie its work around a theme and the theme for 2008 is - Connecting People and Place. We want to instil in local people and visitors alike a feeling of distinctive and a sense of place about wherever it is that they are in Cumbria. Everywhere has a certain character and we feel that in this age of the global citizen emphasising this difference is key to retaining an area's identity, giving us pride in our landscapes and encouraging us to protect what we love about the countryside.

Throughout the year we will be highlighting work which connects people and place, through our environment grants scheme, through our events and through our project work and we will be out on the road during the summer visiting shows and fairs promoting this key theme.
