Local products

Six reasons to buy locally:

  1. Links are made between food production and the landscape.
  2. Farmers receive a better price for their produce which can allow small and medium sized farms to compete more effectively.
  3. More money is spent and kept in the local economy.
  4. Foods that are grown, produced and sold locally are better for the environment. They cost less to transport and need less packaging.
  5. More fresh healthy food is sold through local shops and farmes markets making it easier for people to buy.
  6. Animal welfare can be more easily supervised.

A thriving diverse local economy helps to maintain a healthy landscape. To encourage the link between the local economy and the landscape this page contains links to local producers of a range of goods.
