GREAT DISCOUNTS AND DAYS OUT FOR BUS TRAVELLERS
New leaflets have been produced giving information about how to enjoy some of the best bus journeys in the Lake District National Park. The Give the Driver a Break leaflets cover Langdale, Borrowdale, Kentmere, Ullswater, Honister and Buttermere, Coniston and Hawkshead, Windermere and Bowness and Kirkstone. They have been produced by the Lake District National Park Authority and Friends of the Lake District, with support from Cumbria County Council and Stagecoach.
David Robinson from the Lake District National Park Authority said, "We are pleased to have a new set of Give the Driver a Break leaflets with lots of information about enjoying the National Park without a car - some of the most popular places in the National Park have great bus services. Using one helps to reduce congestion and pollution and supports a vital local service."
In addition to the "Give the Driver a Break" leaflets, there are already leaflets about days out on the 208 Ullswater Connexion (Keswick to Patterdale) and the 517 Kirkstone Rambler (Bowness to Glenridding). Special discounts have been arranged with a number of businesses along the routes, only available to passengers on the Ullswater Connexion and the Kirkstone Rambler.
Judith Moore from Friends of the Lake District said, "Friends of the Lake District is delighted to be working with the National Park Authority to promote public transport through this project. We have had excellent support from a number of businesses who are all keen to get more people travelling around the National Park by bus."
All of the Give the Driver a Break leaflets are free and can be obtained from Tourist Information Centres, the Lake District National Park Authority and Friends of the Lake District. They will also be available to download from the websites of the Lake District National Park Authority, Friends of the Lake District and Cumbria County Council.
