If you are looking for easy days out in the Lakes, then Give the Driver a Break has great ideas for walks and places to visit.
Give the Driver a Break leaflets have timetables plus ideas for how to get the best from the bus as there are details of where to go for a lovely walk or how to combine the bus with a trip on a lake for example. These buses travel through such beautiful scenery, including up Langdale or to the top of the Kirkstone Pass, that the journey itself becomes part of a great day out in a way that travelling by car can't compare with. There are printed leaflets for bus services to Langdale and Borrowdale, which are available from Tourist Information Centres. Policy officer Judith Moore said: 'Give the Driver a Break is a great way to see fantastic countryside as well as helping to look after the environment. Friends of the Lake District is pleased to be promoting Give the Driver a Break with the Lake District National Park Authority, as we believe that public transport is an essential part of the National Park.' Thanks also to graphic designers Designworks, of Staveley, who generously donated the design for the online leaflets for free. The downloadable leaflets are available here: Borrowdale, Coniston, Honister, Kirkstone, Langdale, Sedburgh and Windermere and www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/givethedriverabreak . |
