Employee volunteering

Employee Volunteer Days are hands-on conservation days for teams and are an excellent way for your employees to discover first-hand some of the benefits of practical environmental work in the outdoors. We aim to be as inclusive as possible and offer a range of activities to suit all abilities and fitness levels.

Your employees will be engaged in tasks with tangible benefits for people and the landscape. Examples are dry-stone walling in beautiful countryside or planting trees in local woodland.

Teaming up with Friends of the Lake District helps to make a positive difference to the environments and communities in Cumbria. In addition to improving the natural landscape, it provides people with a fun, active, outdoor experience working as part of a team, where friendships are formed and links with the local community are made.

Your team can join one of our planned work parties or we can look at organising a special date suitable for your team. Companies, organisations and other groups are very welcome to help on our work parties, we ask that you give us a donation to help cover our costs of running the days (c£300 a day) and please consider becoming an affiliated member.

We are happy to help run work parties for community groups, for which we ask for a donation to cover staff time and/or your support by becoming a member.
