The Flora of the Fells Festival is starting in earnest this week with the publication of the events brochure 2010. 

Friends of the Lake District's 31st annual hedge laying competition attracted twenty seven competitors to Heversham on Saturday. Sunny weather ensured a good crowd see over 160 metres of hedgerow newly laid on both sides of the A6.

Over the next few weeks readers of Trail magazine and Country Walking magazine can vote for which outdoor project gets a share of 30,000 Euros - and Friends of the Lake District with BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) are in the running.

Fifty-five graduate trainees from Jaguar Land Rover, and staff from Impact International joined Friends of the Lake District on a snowy day in January on the Helm near Oxenholme.
