National Grid North West Coast Connections – bay tunnel hope for new power cables

National Grid announced last week its preferred options for routing new power cables from west Cumbria into the grid, which includes a southern route under Morecambe Bay, which would avoid going through south Cumbria and much of the Lake District National Park.

Ravenstonedale to Ravenglass - Jean’s 80 Mile Walk for the Friends’ 80th Anniversary

Killington Wind Farm Application Withdrawn

Banks Renewables, a wind farm developer has withdrawn from the planned public inquiry concerning its application for three wind turbines at Killington citing changes to government policy on wind generation. This means that the application to develop the wind farm has been withdrawn and the public inquiry, planned for September, will no longer go ahead.
