75th Anniversary
  • Friends of the Lake District was formed following a mass rally in Fitz Park, Keswick on 17 June 1934

  • In 2009 we are celebrating our first 75 years of protecting and enhancing the landscape through a series of events, some of which are open to our Members and to the public

  • Friends of the Lake District was originally formed to campaign for long-term national protection of the Lake District. Our campaign helped lead to the creation of the Lake District National Park, one of the first, in 1951

  • We will also be publishing a specially-written history of Friends of the Lake District during the period 1934-1951, to coincide with the celebrations

  • Come to our Landscape Festival in Fitz Park, Keswick on Saturday 20 June from noon

  • Why not purchase some of our special, limited edition
